The ‘new normal’ for Meercat Boats has taken off with a superb start following the announcement of an order for a new Meercat DeckMax MRV (MultiRole Vessel), for Scottish aquaculture and fish farming operations.

Meercat Boats is fully open for business and its teams are working at full capacity delivering best-of-breed solutions across new workboat builds, and commercial vessel refits and servicing, together with its new offering, being ship repairs and spares.

John Buck of Meercat Boats comments, “Meercat has not experienced any lulls in demand, despite the challenges of COVID-19, as the new workboat order will attest. If anything, the port services sectors have stepped up a gear, particularly following the changes to air freight and the transit of goods.”

He continues, “As we are adjacent to the Port of Southampton, we often have call from ships for urgent repairs and spares, for which Meercat and its experienced teams are ideally positioned to deliver.”

The Meercat management team has implemented mandatory COVID-19 safety and protection measures for all who enter the yard. For anyone arriving from abroad, whether onboard a vessel, or via air or land, then a seven-day quarantine period is required, before stringent health checks are undertaken.

All subcontractors and employees are required to wear masks and protective gloves whilst onsite. There are daily temperature checks, third-party access is strictly controlled, and any project and team meetings are held outside.

And finally, there have been zero COVID-19 reported cases within the Meercat yard to date.
