The Meercat MRV18 steel multirole workboat has been sold to Aberdeen based McLachlan Marine for operations in and surrounding Aberdeen Harbour.

McLachlan Marine provides workboat leasing, safety boat hire, and provides general marine support to the renewables, marine civils, ship servicing and wind farm sectors.

Having recently attended Meercat’s head office and yard in Southampton where she completed her five year survey and was given a thorough refit, the MRV18 has been purchased to undertake a greater number of operations for McLachlan Marine both inside the harbour and further afield. The MRV18 will provide essential enhancement to McLachlan’s fleet, and in particular will be assisting with a new and significant project.

Aberdeen Harbour is one of the UK’s busiest ports. A leading global marine support centre, it is the principal port for the energy sector in Western Europe and serves numerous industries as the main commercial port in the North East of Scotland. With trading links to more than 40 countries worldwide, Aberdeen Harbour generates in excess of £1.5billion GVA annually.

Meercat Boats builds steel multirole workboats from its Southampton waterside purpose-built shipyard, where it employs highly experienced and dedicated teams of steel fabricators and finishers. Recent new builds include Guernsey Harbours’ new 15 metre steel Meercat MRV15, and the Meercat MRV22 metre landing craft, Toplander, which is currently contracted to BK Marine in the Shetland Isles.
