Meercat Boats’ flagship vessel is the M18 steel multirole workboat.

British built and designed in collaboration with Walker Marine Design to MCA CAT 2, the M18 is a cost-effective multi-purpose workboat, designed for myriad projects including; port services, construction works, dredging support and offshore maintenance works, which can be customised to suit the purchaser’s specific requirements.

The Meercat M18 offers impressive load carrying capability due to its extended hull depth. The wide beam contributes to significant stability reserves, allowing for heavy lifting capacity with the onboard crane. A two-tier superstructure and extensive space below deck allows ample space for welfare facilities and accommodation, plus the upper-tier wheelhouse provides excellent visibility of the working deck and for safely manoeuvring the vessel. An engine room, mess room and workshop/store with standing headroom increases below deck comfort.

Shetland Islands workboat operator, BK Marine Ltd purchased its Meercat M18 in 2018, the BK Marjorie, which combines the standard multirole features associated with all Meercat Boats, together with aquaculture support features. Originally required for predominantly for fish farming support, the M18 has performed exceptionally well installing mooring grids and undergoing towage work.

Since its move to new premises near the port of Southampton two years ago, Meercat Boats has delivered numerous multirole steel workboats to Scottish fish farms, European port harbour servicing, as well as UK wind farm servicing support and Middle Eastern civil engineering; and to date has built 34 commercial vessels.

Meercat Boats is boasting a healthy order book, offers a unique, fully customisable and versatile vessel build options, together with a range of workboats that deliver strong residuals to their owners.

Impressed by their excellent seakeeping ability, multi-disciplinary abilities and uniquely, their innovative road-transportability, a leading UK civil engineering specialist, Topbond plc, which had previously purchased a Meercat Boat, acquired the business in 2017. The acquisition has enhanced Meercat Boats’ client solutions; including new finance packages, part exchange and leaseback options; all of which enable businesses to secure and continue valuable maritime contracts without downtime.

Recently the firm has sold a customised 12 metre Meercat to a client in Eastern Europe, where it immediately began operations conducting oil spill response duties.

Meercat Boats have undertaken essential, and often hugely varying, port servicing duties across a large number of the UK’s working ports. Associated British Ports (ABP), which operates out of the Port of Southampton, purchased a 15metre Meercat in 2017 which was designed by the award-winning naval architects, Walker Marine Design.

Meercat Boats’ global client-base also includes local businesses, including Portsmouth’s BAE Systems and Southampton’s Williams Shipping.
